Exploring the impacts of coloniality, racialisation, and migration on the literary and cultural landscape — past, present and future.
About our research
We research the impacts of colonialism, migration, and structures of racialisation in a range of historical and geographical contexts. The centre is co-led by Dr Sarah Ilott and Dr Eleanor Byrne.
The centre aims to:
- foster a productive research community for scholarship in postcolonial, critical race, and diaspora studies at Manchester Metropolitan University and beyond
- provide a platform for knowledge exchange through conferences, screenings, public lectures, workshops and other activities
- work with local, national and international partners to find solutions to the challenges our research seeks to address
Our experts work in postcolonial trauma and testimony studies, decolonising comedy studies, food and hunger in postcolonial studies, ecocriticism, literature and terror, and global literature for, by, and about the young.
